I recently joined the Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation and am very excited to be apart of the team. I have learned a lot in my short time at the foundation, but what I think stands out the most for me is how much I did not know about lung cancer prior to my arrival. Did you know that lung cancer takes more lives than breast, prostate and colon cancers combined? It accounts for 27% of all cancer deaths. Did you know that lung cancer is the least funded cancer in terms of research dollars per death of all the major cancers? Those two statistics are very concerning and participating in any way in this upcoming 5k walk/run event in San Francisco is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
The ALCF goal is very clear: to make lung cancer a chronically managed disease by 2023. I want to show my appreciation and support for ALCF by participating in the 5k walk/run on September 27th in San Francisco. We are participating in the 5k walk/run event together and look forward to raising much needed funds for research.
Our goal is to raise $2,500 and will need all the support we can get from friends and family. I think it is important to note that 90% of all funds raised go directly towards patient services, awareness/outreach and much needed research/studies.
We would be very grateful in any support we receive and hope you will visit our team and personal page, donate and/or join the team!
Thank you in advance for your generosity and support. We look forward to the opportunity to return the kindness and support on any of your future endeavors.
By the way…… these events also happen to be a lot of FUN and make for a GREAT and special day in the City. Hope to see you there!
